October - The ninth edition of the Jewish Film Festival, subtitled 'Family in Focus', opens on 14 October with the Dutch premiere of Gilles Paquet-Brenner's touching film adaptation of Tatiana de Rosnay's bestseller Sarah's Key, starring Kristin Scott Thomas.
Between 14 and 17 October 2010, films that were made by Jewish filmmakers and/or have a Jewish theme are screened in Pathé Tuschinski. The festival offers a unique chance to see films that often haven't been released in the Netherlands so far and that give a colourful insight in Jewish family life in all its aspects.
For the first time this year, the festival is held in the country's most elegant cinema: the Pathé Tuschinski in Amsterdam. This splendid Jugendstil building was commissioned by the Polish-Dutch Jew Abraham Icek Tuschinski and opened its doors in 1921.
