November - The third Amsterdam Cello Biennale will take place from November 5 to 13 in the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, the concert hall on the Amsterdam harbour front. In its short history the Biennale in Amsterdam has become the international meeting point of cellists from all over the world. During 9 days there will be over 40 concerts featuring Dutch and international master musicians, ensembles and orchestras.
The 2010 Biennale will focus on the international cello ensemble, with guest ensembles from the USA, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, China and the Netherlands. The Amsterdam Biennale will present an extensive master class programme by 12 cello maestros including Anner Bijlsma, Natalia Gutman, Jean-Guihen Queyras and Giovanni Sollima. Cello concertos will be performed with the Orchestra of the 18th Century, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, The Hague Philharmonic, Asko|Schönberg and the Nederland Blazers Ensemble.
